Reecha Tripathi

Reecha Tripathi is a rising young star of semi classical Indian music who has trained under the famed singer Padmabhushan Girija Devi of Benaras. Although still in high school, she has established a formidable reputation for her beautiful and authentic rendering of thumri, dadra, ghazal, chaiti and other styles of Poorab. Reecha lives in Vancouver B.C. where she began her training with Smt. Kamala Bose. In 2002-2003 she went to India to study further with Girija Devi and was nominated for the “Prayag Gaurav Award” in Allahbad, India. She placed first in both classical and light music at the Prayag Sangity Samiti’s All-India Music Competition, Allahabad, and the Sangam Kala Group’s National Singing Talent Hunt in New Delhi, both in 2002. She placed first in the Sangeet Natak Academy at both district and provincial level. Reecha has appeared in Zee Telefilms’ “Antakshari” as a 1st Runner Up in All India Finals. Not surprisingly, in her hometown, she is a big draw at such events as “Mehfil-e-ghazal” at The India Club (2003).
