Deepa Banerjee

Deepa Banerjee comes from a musical family. Her Hindustani Classical training started at the age of seven by her father and uncle. Her formal Hindustani classical training began and continued with Akhil Ahmed khansaheb who was the grandson of Ustad Bashir Khan of Agra Gharana. She also has B.Mus , Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Prabhakar. She was a regualar artist from All India Radio and Delhi Doordarshan.

She has performed in India, Papua New Guinea, Australia , Canada and US. In Canada, she trained under the able guidance of Pandit Jasraj. She also taught Hindustani Music at Pandit Jasraj Schol of Music, Vancouver, Canada.

In US (since 2001), she has performed in Seattle, Richland and Boise as a member of Pratidhwani. She recently performed at NW Folk Life Festival.

She is now under the tutelage of Pandit Rajan Mishra, an artist of international repute from the Benaras Gharana.
