Whaddya mean “man’s best friend”?
Valentine’s day calls for a heartwarming fairly tale like this one. The eight-year old daughter of Shankar Munda is happily married to a dog (nope, not a FROG).
The girl’s father, Shankar Munda, was quoted as telling local newspapers that his daughter had grown “dog teeth” on her upper jaws which was considered a bad omen.
“If the marriage had not been solemnised, our family might have faced some trouble,” he reportedly said.
Now this is India, so naturally you are wondering if
the girl’s parents gave their daughter a dowry of Rs.22,000 in cash, a colour television and a bed among other household items.
No word on whether the “household items” included doggie biscuits.
Disbelief? Here is my source. MSN India - Girl married to dog to avoid bad omen
This is as good a time as any to recall aonther young lady (what is the age of consent among canines?) who emphatically claimed that
“I have no regret in marrying the dog Bacchan. I am fond of the dog who moves around our locality,” the girl told the AFP.

Personally I rather liked the “Bacchan” flourish. That’s just the sort of thing that sets a story apart from its run-of-the-mill cousins.
